Harmonisation of existing tools for digital pathology
Deliverable 2.3 of the GYNOCARE COST Action was the harmonisation of existing tools for digital pathology. The existing experience was brought together in order to facilitate the central histological review, as well as to enable the discussion of basic research results performed on this samples.
During the Training School and MC meeting in North Macedonia , there was a dedicated session on digital pathology, especially in the field of rare gynaecological cancers. Prof John O'Leary delivered a keynote lecture on the role of artificial intelligence in digital pathology, especially in the diagnosis of cervical cancer.
Trinity’s Professor of Pathology, Professor John O’Leary is Professor of Pathology at Trinity College Dublin and Consultant Histopathologist at St James’s Hospital and Director of Pathology at the Coombe Women and Infants University Hospital in Ireland. During his career, Professor O’Leary has made several key findings specifically in the areas of cervical cancer and ovarian cancer and has an international reputation in cancer medicine. His work in cervical cancer and pre-cancer has led to a novel set of molecular biomarkers which have direct diagnostic and prognostic value in cervical pre-cancer and cancer diagnosis.
